Rev. Dr. Michael Mbona

Born June 2, 1966 in Zimbabwe, Michael was ordained to the priesthood in 2001 in the Diocese of Manicaland, Zimbabwe (Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa).   He is married to Christine, and together they have three sons.

Michael previously served as School Chaplain at St Faith’s Mission, and also served as Assistant Priest and Priest- in-Charge of St Faith Mission District (2001-2007). In 2004 Michael became a member of the Diocesan Theological Education Commission and from 2013 to April 2017 was the Diocesan Convener of Post-Ordination Theological Training. He was appointed a member of the Bishop’s Senate since being elected Capitular Canon in 2003 and also has served as the Deputy Chairperson of the Diocesan Board of Trustees since 2014.

Before joining St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Kuwait, Michael was the Dean and Rector of the Cathedral parish of St John the Baptist, Mutare, Zimbabwe and Archdeacon of Mutare Urban, from 2013 to April 2017. Michael was initially trained as a teacher and holds the following qualifications: Certificate in Education, Bachelor of Arts with Education, and as a theologian earned the degrees of Bachelor of Theology Hons (History of Christianity), Master of Theology (History of Christianity) and Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities and Social Sciences (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa).
