ST PAUL’S KUWAIT
The Rt Revd Michael Lewis and the Council of St Paul's wish to appoint a resourceful priest of real calibre to this long-established chaplaincy and parish. The State of Kuwait embodies a relaxed and friendly culture within a generally conservative society.
The Anglican Church currently worships in two locations, Kuwait City and Ahmadi, on Friday and Sunday respectively. The backgrounds of those attending are diverse and international. Additionally the chaplaincy has within it a Mandarin-language Chinese-origin group and maintains friendly relationship with an Urdu-language Pakistan-origin congregation that is also under the canonical authority of the bishop. High value is placed on eucharistic structure, thoughtful preaching, the study of scripture, and mutual encouragement.
Accommodation is a comfortable furnished four bed-roomed bungalow in a peaceful part of Ahmadi. The attractive stipend is currently set at 900 Kuwaiti dinars a month plus an employment package that includes an allowance that could be used towards either continued entitlement in a pension scheme or school fees. No income tax is currently payable in Kuwait.
Note: the bishop of the diocese, abiding by Provincial decision, is at present unable to license a female priest to this in-charge post, although ordained women clergy have assisted and been warmly appreciated.
Closing date for applications is Friday 6th August, 2010
Interviews will be arranged with shortlisted candidates.
